  • VER (Visually Evoked Responses). This test is used to evaluate the visual nervous system from the eye to the brain to evaluate optic neuritis, optic tumors, retinal disorders, and diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
  • EP (Evoked Potential). This is a recording of electrical activity from the brain, spinal nerves, or sensory receptors that occur in direct response to external stimuli.

Neurodiagnostics

Our Neurodiagnostics Department consists of EEG, or Electroencephalography, and the St. Joseph Sleep Center. An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that is performed by a Licensed Electroencephalographic Technologist, which measures and records the electrical activity of your brain. Certain conditions, such as seizures, can be seen by the changes in the normal pattern of the brain's electrical activity.

About Our Sleep Center

Tests are provided to adult and geriatric patients. Hours for EEG are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The St. Joseph Sleep Center performs outpatient sleep studies during the night to help rule out sleep-related disorders. These are performed by a Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist. Polysomnograms are tests that record your heart rate, oxygen saturation, airflow, and sleep stages to diagnose sleep-related disorders. Examples of sleep-related disorders include: sleep apnea, narcolepsy, sleep walking, night tremors, insomnia, and periodic limb movement disorder are just a few examples.

The Sleep Center operates from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for patients age 4 and older.
